Teacher resources » Author's Tea 2009 Well I have been talking about it for about 2 years, and I've finally done it. We had a wonderful Author's Tea in June 2009. All the parents came, the local newspaper...we had a blast!! To get ready for the author's tea I had the kids pose for a black and white glamour photo. I had them write bios to go with these. I made my bulletin board look a little Hollywood with red curtains I made from paper. I also rolled out the red carpet for this special event. The children picked their favorite writer's workshop story from the year and read them aloud in our Author's Chair. Before we started reading the stories, I welcomed all the guests and the students served their parents cookies, tea or lemonade. When it was their turn they had to read their dedication and about the author pages as well. We also had a book signing area for after they all read. It was a lot of fun and I'm glad I did it. It will become a tradition I think.
